CORROBOREE PARK, MACLEAY ISLAND
Corroboree Park is located on a promontory on the south-eastern side of Macleay Island and is
accessed via Cotton Tree Avenue and Boatharbour Avenue. The park consists of several discrete
elements: a freshwater wetland, a small grassed section that acts as a drainage area for the wetland,
a grassed play area with some park facilities and a foreshore area that overlooks the narrow channel
between Macleay Island and Lamb Island. The foreshore includes a stony beach and mangrove
habitat.
Corroboree Park is a well known contact site and ceremonial ground in use in the late nineteenth
century. As such, it contains known Aboriginal Sites.
Given Corroboree Park’s rich Indigenous cultural heritage, concept planning will be undertaken, in the first instance, with the traditional owners.
