JOCK KENNEDY PARK, RUSSELL ISLAND

Jock Kennedy Park is located on the northern end of Russell Island and is accessed from Douglas
Street. The park consists of a large, grassed area facing the waterfront and mangrove habitat.

The preliminary landscape concept for this District park proposes the following:-

-The potential for a new swimming enclosure;

-A sand beach for the kids and sun bathers when the tide is out;

-Shade trees to complement the exiting large Eucalypts;

-A large playground with climbing nets;

-An equitable circulation system;

-A series of BBQ shelters for small and large gatherings;

-Flat grassy open space for kicking a ball around;

-The sensitive treatment of erosion to the edge of the mangroves;

-Screening from the proposed new boat ramp and trailor car park.
