verge worked closely with the project team client and for this
residential subdivision developed from inception to finished
product.
The development is accessed via a new entry drive which moves
between neighbouring residential properties and a nature
reserve.
Recognition of the sensitivity of the surrounding bushland and consultation with environmental specialists were important and on-going elements of the design process.
An important project goal was to design an exciting and inviting entry into the estate which captures the essence of the green surrounds. The use of planting, hard landscape interventions
and landforming helped to screen the neighbouring two storey residential.
The opportunity was taken to develop the entry road as a linear park, incorporating art elements to produce an inclusive and memorable experience for users. We collaborated with an artist and a craftsman ensuring the delivery of successful outcomes.
The Trinity Lotus is used as a design element throughout the design. The shape of the Lotus informs the design of the entry feature and a number of other hardscape interventions such as road and path thresholds.
The organic form of low sandstone walls combined with subtle
landforming helped to link valued existing vegetation with the new planting and hardscape interventions.
Advanced tree planting and species selection also ensured a comfortable relationship between the existing and new landscapes.
Critical to the design was also the restoration of an existing creek system and the improvement of degraded drainage lines, both compounded by the sites highly dispersive soil type.
Another crucial goal of creek restoration was the provision of a wildlife corridor through the site.
